George Por on Social Presencing Theatre

September 17, 2007 By Chris Corrigan Being, CoHo

Tom Hurley and George Por enjoy a laugh in Belgium George Por is a friend and an occaisional co-conspirator and colleague. What I appreciate about George is that he has been in this game a long time. He has been ahead of the curve for years – decades in some cases – with respect to the web, social networking and evolutionary consciousness and as such he has an uncanny perspective on things. For a few years now he has been working with a number of thinkers in looking at Otto Scharmer’s Presencing ideas. Today I read a long and interesting …

Deep in the Art of Hosting

June 6, 2007 By Chris Corrigan Art of Harvesting, Art of Hosting, CoHo, Conversation, Emergence, Facilitation, Invitation, Open Space 4 Comments

near Diest, Belgium We have begun, and now concluded our first day here at Heerlijckyt, snugged in with 26 mates investigating all sorts of questions about the Art of Hosting as it is manifest and practiced here in Europe, as well as elsewhere in the world. We spent much of the day experimenting with sensing the collective field, using a combination of methods including a long and juicy opening circle (during which Toke asked the questions “what called you here? What has called us here? and what might we accomplish together?”). This circle was carefully harvested for larger themes. From …

Notes

May 21, 2007 By Chris Corrigan CoHo, Conversation, Links, Music, World Cafe 4 Comments

Starting a new regular type of posting. These are a series of short notes and thoughts, too small to warrant a post, but looking for a home nonetheless, and possibly becoming more. I invite your curiosity on any of this…queries may set me to growing these little guys into something more substantial. Conversations that matter is the home for the world cafe Europe blog. Good reading there. Dave Pollard on the distinctions between dialogue and debate. Dave wrestles with his conscience on this one and comes up with a finer grain analysis as a result. Interesting as usual, and deeply …

Sitting with friends, exploring patterns

May 17, 2007 By Chris Corrigan Being, CoHo, Organization, Travel 6 Comments

Seattle, WA There is a creation story we tell in the art of hosting workshops called “The Chaordic Path” which describes the dance of chaos and order in the service of generative emergence.   Today, in Seattle many of us good friends and mates sat in the audience as our friend Thomas Arthur told this story through his production of Luminous Edge.   The show is about a wizard who is responsible for juggling into existence the orderly patterns of our human world and then fixing them in place with his spiral of integration.   He is assisted by an …

The most beautiful harvest

April 23, 2007 By Chris Corrigan Art of Harvesting, CoHo

At the Council of Hosts gathering I helped co-convene last November, friends Thomas Arthur and Ashley Cooper gifted us with the most beautiful harvest I have ever seen.   Visit the new World Cafe blog to view this short film that says more about our work together with images and music than any written report could ever have done. And this is a lovely tribute to our friend Finn Voldtofte, who was at this gathering, his last conference, and who held space for us to be better and deeper and more clear at ever turn.   Finn’s voice is the …
