World AIDS Day

December 1, 2005 By Chris Uncategorized

It’s World AIDS Day, and every year, I link to an Aboriginal HIV/AIDS project. This year it’s Chee Mamuk, the Aboriginal AIDS and STD awareness program at the BC Centre for Disease Control. In memoriam, to all the Aboriginal brothers and sisters who have succumbed to this disease, and a strong shout out to all who are living with it.

Vine Deloria Jr., RIP

November 28, 2005 By Chris Uncategorized One Comment

Vine Deloria, Jr. 26 March 1933 – 13 November 2005 Instead of fighting over the idea of beginnings, the focus should be a better understanding of earth history. Then we can talk about how we think things originated. On November 13, Vine Deloria Jr. passed away. Joy Harjo has a nice remembrance in Indian Country.

Center for Reducing Rural Violence

November 1, 2005 By Chris Uncategorized

By way of Harrison Owen, I was referred to Steve Hirsch of the Center for Reducing Rural Violence in Minnesota. This is one reason why I love America…stuff like this exists down there. I’m looking forward to a conversation with him on violence in First Nations communities.
