Not unlike<br \/>\nthe hummingbirds<br \/>\nimagining their wings<br \/>\nto be their heart, and swallows<br \/>\nbelieving the horizon<br \/>\nto be a line they lift<br \/>\nand drop. What is it<br \/>\nthey cast for? The poplars,<br \/>\nadvancing or retreating,<br \/>\nlose their stature<br \/>\nequally, and yet stand firm,<br \/>\nmaking arrangements<br \/>\nin order to become<br \/>\nimaginary. The city<br \/>\ndraws the mind in streets,<br \/>\nand streets compel it<br \/>\nfrom their intersections<br \/>\nwhere a little<br \/>\nbelongs to no one. It is<br \/>\nwhat is driven through<br \/>\nall stationary portions<br \/>\nof the world, gravity&#8217;s<br \/>\nstake in things, the leaves,<br \/>\npressed against the dank<br \/>\nwindow of November<br \/>\nsoil, remain unwelcome<br \/>\ntill transformed, parts<br \/>\nof a puzzle unsolvable<br \/>\ntill the edges give a bit<br \/>\nand soften.
