A nice introduction to path dependancy, affordances and ecological psychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kjroe38FATE\"><strong>Alicia Juarrero being interviewed by Jim Hutt<\/strong><\/a> on her book Context Changes Everything and on how constraints create possibility landscape and constraint regimes.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Vampire Problem<\/strong> is a thought experiment that demonstrates why it is so hard to act in uncertainty. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themarginalian.org\/2026\/09\/22\/transformative-experience-vampire-problem\/\">Maria Popova does her usual brilliant job of unpacking it.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Martina Dimopoulou takes over then Cynefin blog<\/strong> with <a href=\"https:\/\/thecynefin.co\/on-salience\/\">a fabulous post on <em>salience<\/em><\/a> and how we notice the world and the weak signals within it.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Brian Ponch Rivera takes a deep dive<\/strong> into John Boyd\u2019s development of his thinking behind the OODA loop. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aglx.com\/aglx-thinking\/the-ooda-loops-cybernetic-engine\/\">It\u2019s an interesting exposition of how a curious learner assembles a framework over time<\/a> and worth a read for that reason, even if you know nothing about OODA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Other good things to read and listen to.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The elephant in the room is a subject that never gets old.<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/tendthesparks.substack.com\/p\/the-elephant-in-the-room-12\">Cheyenne Coxon talks about how and why to make friends with the pachyderm<\/a>: &#8220;The elephant affects everyone in the room, even if they\u2019re not directly involved in the situation. After a certain point it all becomes so distracting and ridiculous to pretend and navigate around it that something has to give. There\u2019s no real telling on the timeline there, but it becomes a volatile situation that ramps up everyone\u2019s anxiety as they wait for an impending fallout. It actually takes a lot of energy to pretend something is fine when it\u2019s not, and the dissonance it creates in our bodies is an insidious source of stress and poor health for people and organizations.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tendthesparks.substack.com\/p\/the-power-in-the-room-22\">Part Two continues the exploration<\/a> with some reflections on living with the elephant, finding friends and when it\u2019s time to leave the elephant enclosure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Weak signals from the \u201cbreathing grounds.\u201d<\/strong>  That term is used by Ramon Kataquapit to describe the precious James Bay Lowlands, a bleak region of estuary and peat lands that ring the southern end of James Bay. It\u2019s Ramon\u2019s backyard and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aptnnews.ca\/national-news\/proposed-federal-law-attacks-environment-stomps-on-leadership-says-youth\/\">what he says as a youth leader about the future of these lowlands is a weak signal<\/a> about the dangers of our current federal government\u2019s major projects initiative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A segment on CBC\u2019s The Current<\/strong> about a new reality show on Netflix based on the Stanford Prison Experiment. I won\u2019t be watching the show. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/listen\/live-radio\/1-63-the-current\/clip\/16240185-netflix-turns-stanford-prison-experiment-reality-tv\">But the segment today had an interview with psychology researcher Jay Van Bevel<\/a> in which he shares some interesting insights that are rel\u00e8vent to my triangle tool for understanding dialogic containers.
