A Gift <\/strong><\/p>\nJust when you seem to yourself
\nnothing but a flimsy web
\nof questions, you are given
\nthe questions of others to hold
\nin the emptiness of your hands,
\nsongbird eggs that can still hatch
\nif you keep them warm,
\nbutterflies opening and closing themselves
\nin your cupped palms, trusting you not to injure
\ntheir scintillant fur, their dust.
\nYou are given the questions of others
\nas if they were answers
\nto all you ask. Yes, perhaps

I’m stranded in San Fransico, sitting on standby for a flight home after narrowly missing my flight yesterday evening due to a big accident on the Golden Gate bridge. \u00a0 So sitting the lounge, guiltily hoping every two hours that someone has some minor misfortune or change of plans that will open up one seat on a day when every flight home is full.
